Awards

The Round Table and its staff have won numerous awards over the last 10 years, most notably the Frederick News Post’s Mike Powell Excellence in Journalism Sweepstakes Award in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008.

Eight journalism participated in the West Virginia University Isaac Reed School of Journalism high school journalism competition. The eight students, including Kevin Parker, Lauren Redding, Maegan Clearwood, Meghan Hughes, Kara Henson, Leah Numbers and Rosco Windon, attended workshops with WVU professors and attended an awards ceremony later that day. Clearwood placed first in editorial writing and second in news writing. Parker placed third in editorial writing. Redding placed first in news writing and second in feature writing. Preston Frey and Sean Raleigh, who could not attend the competition, placed second in editorial writing and second in critical review.
