Winter spirit week aimed at getting students pumped

Middletown High School plans to host another spirit week for the winter season, which will take place during the week of Feb. 2-6.

The theme of the spirit week is “Paint the Valley Orange”. The MHS club Valley Rowdies helped planned and put a lot of input into the spirit week.

“We wanted to try new things so that this Spirit Week was totally different from the one in the fall. The Valley Rowdies had a lot of input,” said cheerleader coach and adviser of the Valley Rowdies Melissa Bolt. “I think next year the Valley Rowdies will be in charge of both the pep rally and spirit week.”

Monday will be Rock Out Monday in which students and staff are encouraged to wear a music-related t-shirt. Tuesday is Tie Tuesday where students and stuff are asked to wear a crazy tie or suspenders.

Wednesday is Class Color Day; each class wears colors assigned to them. Freshman wear blue, sophomores wear red, juniors wear yellow, and seniors wear green.

Thursday is Sweats Day, a lazy yet spirited way to slow down the week with everyone wearing sweat pants and sweat shirts.

Friday is Paint the Valley Orange Day where everyone wears orange clothing to represent the school colors.

“I am a huge proponent of school spirit and Knight pride. I think it is important that the student body feels a positive connection to the school; having a spirit week is one way to accomplish this,” said Bolt.

A door decorating contest will also take place, as well face painting in the cafeteria. As a way to honor the athletic teams, each morning captains for all winter sports teams will be announced.
