Boys Soccer: Knights offense gets shut out in loss to the Titans

Knights blanked by powerful Titans, escape Emmittsburg with only one point.

The Middletown High School boys soccer team was unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities in yesterday’s 4-0 loss to Tuscarora.

With 28:30 left in the first half Titan Lorenzo Bolanos netted a shot to begin the scoring. The Titans kept the ball rolling after that with a spectacular 20 yard shot from Casey Capizzi into the upper left corner, and then Ben Dao fired a shot to the keepers left to continue the Titans domination.

The Knights started to get going in the second half, but the threats were thwarted easily by the suffocating Tuscarora defense, and keeper Jacob Clements who earned his first shutout of the season.

Knight’s defender Caleb Abel led the defense, which played up to its potential, but was overtaken by the talent and experience of the well-seasoned Titans.

The Titans squeaked by the Knights and won the mandatory shootout 3-2 to gain an extra point in the tournament scoring. Garret Wegner and Clay Smith made PK’s for the Knights, while Eric Reichelt made two saves.
