Seniors play last game together as friends

On Nov. 10, MHS seniors Laura Myers, Samantha Yeager, Celia Boudart and Taylor Green went to represent the Middletown High School varsity field hockey team at a Frederick County Senior All-Star game at Oakdale High School.

As all the schools sent some of their seniors to represent them in this county game, players looked forward to one last game.

The home team consisted of Middletown, Oakdale, Urbana, Thomas Johnson and Brunswick, while the visiting team was comprised of Linganore, Tuscarora, Frederick, Catoctin and Walkersville.

Yeager has been playing field hockey for the past four years and was captain of the junior varsity team her sophomore year. Yeager plays defense and midfield when needed.

Myers has been playing field hockey for the past six years and was also captain of the varsity field hockey team her senior year. She has been playing the left wing on offense and has scored more than 12 goals this season, including multiple assists.

Green, has been playing field hockey for the past four years. She was captain of the varsity team her senior year. She has been playing in the midfield, defense and even some offense. She has been the all-around player for the varsity team throughout this season. Green has scored two goals this season, with multiple assists.

Boudart has been playing field hockey for the past four years. She was captain of the junior varsity team her sophomore year. Boudart has been the dominant force on defense during her senior year.

These four girls were just teammates on the field at first but have since changed to best friends. Being able to play a sport that they love with their best friends is one of the most memorable experiences of their lives.

As their names were announced at the start of the game, they stepped out proudly to represent MHS.

As the game started last night, Boudart was the starting center back, while Green started at center-mid. Myers came in at right wing, whereas Yeager came in at left defense.

Throughout the game, the girls played with heart and class. The game challenged them to step up to and show people what they were made of.

In the end, their team ended up losing, but it was a well-fought game. The girls were proud of what they had accomplished.
