May 22 marked the first day of John Kirkendall’s annual Harry Truman mock trial for his ordering of the dropping of the atomic bomb. A select group of students in Kirkendall’s American Studies II class were chosen to be the attorneys; the other students in the class participated as witnesses or jury members. The mock trial will continue through next week, at which point the jurors will decide the fate of President Truman.
