Another winter break for students

Students returned to school on Feb 18. after record breaking back to back snowstorms. After having 15 days off, students eased back into the school routine with a 2 hour delay.

Alisa Gibson’s Independent Living class learned how to cook Thanksgiving food on Nov 20. After the boys carved the turkey, everyone got to feast on the food.

National Honor Society induction ceremony

The Middletown High School National Honor Society inducted 69 new members on Nov. 18. The ceremony featured a speech from English teacher, Mrs Larson, a candle lighting ceremony, and the reciting of the NHS pledge by new members.

Lunch shifts offer valuable social time for MHS students. The monumental decision between cold and hot lunches opens much room for debate; some students prefer to use foods from around the house to make a filling meal, while others willingly spend $2.25 a day for a hot meal.

With many Americans affected by the economic downturn, people are cutting down on everything from shopping splurges to electronics. For many MHS students, they are unable to enjoy their free time in the same, expensive ways they did before.

Anticipating a two hour delay made students especially anxious to start their weekends. For many, they were unable to resist communicating with friends prematurely; although using cell phones is stictly disallowed, many students found the temptation hard to resist.

Working around an unusual schedule threw many MHS students for a spin; with clubs and lockdowns interupting what are normally 90-minute-long classes, students and teachers had to find extra time to cram work in.
