<p>The cheerleaders are holding a car wash on Saturday from nine until twelve at the Middletown Safeway. We would love to see you there!</p>
<p>FFA Members who want to attend the rodeo this Saturday June fifth for free, need to pick up their membership cards from Mrs. Shriner for entrance by tomorrow.</p>
<p>If you are a current sophomore and interested in running for junior class office, please pick up an application from Ms. Cashdollar in room 430 or Ms. Mathauser in room 215 by Friday, June fourth  A one-page written speech about yourself and why you want the position you are running for will be due no later than Monday, June seventh.  If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact Ms. or Ms. Mathauser.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Boys Track and Field team competed in the State Championships on Thursday and Saturday. Nick Aldana placed fifth in the one hundred ten hurdles, and Tyler Johnson placed sixth in the Shot Put and the Discus. The four hundred relay placed sixth with Lance Lagos, Hunter Lumley, Rakim Hamilton, and Austin Strine.  The eight hundred relay placed seventh with Lance Lagos, Nick Aldana, Rakim Hamilton, and Ryan Hohl. Austin Strine also placed in the one hundred ten High Hurdles and the three hundred Intermediate Hurdles.</p>
<p>Congratulations to all of the staff who participated in the first MHS Biggest Loser. Combined, participants lost nearly two hundred pounds since mid-November. A special thanks to Mrs. Mattingly for creating the contest for the staff as well as Ms. Cashdollar for giving a tremendous amount of her personal time to handle weigh-ins and compile results. Great job everyone!</p>

<p>All SSL and Intern calendars and time sheets are due today. SSL reflections for June are due as soon as possible.</p>

Mrs. Boyll and Mrs. Owens are in the process of organizing this trip!  If you would like more details, please come with your parents to an informational meeting on Wednesday, June second, in the Media Center. <p>FFA members will be going to Hershey Park with the Catoctin FFA Chapter on Tuesday, June twenty second if there is enough interest.  Sign up on the bulletin board and bring your thirty-three dollars and fifty cents to Mrs. Shriner by this Friday to get your group ticket.</p>
<p>All FFA members who are interested in being tour guides for Barnstormers on June nineteenth, sign up on the FFA bulletin board.  Training for barnstormers will be on June twelfth.  Barnstormers counts for community service and a Supervised Agricultural Experience.  You will be placed at a barn in Frederick City and help educate the public.</p>
<p>Photo CDs and DVDs of GREASE are avaliable for pick-up from Mrs. Nicklas. If you did not order a DVD, there are some still available for purchase at thirty dollars each.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Boys Track &amp; Field Team placed third in the Region 2A West Track and Field Championship.  The following boys qualified for the State Championship: Austin Strine placed first in the 300 Immediate Hurdles, third in the High Jump, and second in the 110 Hurdles. Hunter Lumley placed first in the 110 hurdles. Nick Aldana placed third in the 110 hurdles.  Tyler Johnson placed third in the Discus. The 400 meter relay placed third with Lance Lagos, Nick Aldana, Rakim Hamilton, and Weston Barrett.  Lance Lagos qualified in the 400 meter dash.</p>
<p>There will be a JV and Varsity Girls Lacrosse meeting today at two twenty in Coach Martin&#8217;s room.  Varsity, please bring your uniform, pinnie and school issued lock</p>
<p>Students going to FCC for the Future Link Conference must have their permission slips in tomorrow. Please bring them to Mrs Brandt.</p>
<p>There are still flowers available from the greenhouse. You may come in between 7:30 and 10:30 to pick out your discounted flats of flowers and plants.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Boys Track and Field Team had a good showing at the County Championships yesterday at Middletown. Placing third were Rakim Hamilton in the High Jump, Lance Lagos in the 400, and the 1600 Relay with Lance Lagos, Ryan Hohl, Nick Aldana, and Nick Wolf.  Placing fourth were Nick Aldana in the hurdles and Tyler Johnson in the shot put. Placing fifth were Seth Fritz in the Pole Vault, the 400 Relay with Lance Lagos, Weston Barrett, Rakim Hamilton, and Ryan Hohl and the 3200 Relay with Chris Little, David Lieb, Skyler Stasiewicz, and William Atchison.</p>
<p>This is a reminder that ticket purchases for prom are reserved for Juniors and Seniors. If you are planning to attend prom, you must complete a dance guidelines form for yourself and your date. Forms are available on the bulletin board outside of room 215, in room 430, in the front office, in the Media Center, and at the ticket sales table.  Tickets will be sold from Monday, May tenth until Thursday, May twentieth during all lunch shifts. </p>
<p>SENIORS:  The latest Scholarship and Guidance bulletins are available today and online.  These are the last published bulletins for this school year.</p>
<p>ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:  The counselors are now meeting with students whose schedules have conflicts.  At this time the Guidance counselors are not allowing students to initiate schedule changes.</p>
<p>Lacrosse fans, come and enjoy an afternoon of great lacrosse this Saturday as the Antietam Champions host the second round of playoffs.  The lady knights play at ten o&#8217;clock and the boy&#8217;s play at noon. GO KNIGHTS.</p>
<p>Next week, HSA testing will be taking place in all three computer labs, as well as in the Media Center. Because the computers have to be specially configured for testing, students and staff will not be able to use the computer labs or the computers in the Media Center throughout the week. We apologize for any inconvenience!</p>
<p>Juniors, sophomores and freshman:  We hope you are working hard to maintain perfect attendance through the month of May.  Remember, there is a McDonalds free sandwich coupon at stake.</p>
<p>Any students interested in working on the tech crew for the Valley Theatre&#8217;s summer production of The Music Man, please see Emily McCort. Flyers about the production are available on the drama board.</p>

<p>The Knights Unified Track team ended their first season yesterday on a great note! They finished in fourth place in the yellow division, with twenty-six participating teams at the state meet held at Coppin State University.  This was another great day of track and field events where all athletes contributed. Make sure you congratulate these fine athletes on a great first season, and if you were unable to catch them in action this year, don&#8217;t worry—we will be back next year for track and field and other new exciting sports!</p>

<p>The Boys B Varsity track and field team had a great day yesterday against Maryland School for the Deaf. Gary Scott scored in four events with a first in the 110 hurdles.  Other individual winners were Nick Carter, Ryan Weston, Tony Allevator and Kyle Pritchard. </p>
<p>For all students involved in the drama program, this week is all about ballots, banquet, and Broadway. Be sure to turn in your drama banquet reservation form by Thursday, May thirteenth. Ballots for awards are due by Monday, May seventeenth, and Broadway pink forms are due NOW!  </p>
<p>And now&#8230; a late-breaking scholarship announcement:  A three-hundred and fifty dollar scholarship is available for a student who has been involved in the MHS drama program.  See the drama board for details.</p>
<p>SENIORS:  On Thursday all Seniors will be responsible for completing mandatory graduation surveys.  Listen to the announcements as to when you should report. </p>
<p>Kaplan University in Hagerstown will host an Open House this evening at five-thirty. Representatives will be there to help with admissions and last-minute tips for scholarships.</p>
<p>Seniors:  The Baccalaureate practice on Tuesday, May eighteenth at six-thirty pm is only for the performers and technicians for the Baccalaureate, and not for all of the seniors.</p>
<p>Seniors auditioning for speakers or singers at graduation:  Be sure to submit a copy of your speech or lyrics to Mrs. Nicklas this week.</p>
<p>The cafeteria will be offering Popcorn Chicken Bowls for lunch today along with what is posted on today&#8217;s menu.</p>
<p>Students bringing animals for Agriculture Day on Wednesday May twelfth are asked to meet Today from two-thirty to three o’clock in room 400 to go over health papers and assignment of display areas.</p>
<p>No yearbooks will be distributed today.  Seniors, if you have not yet picked up your yearbook, please see Mr. Tom Miller anytime tomorrow. Yearbooks will be distributed to juniors tomorrow, Wednesday, May twelfth, during lunch in the auditorium.  Please note that all financial obligations must be paid before you are allowed to receive your yearbook.  Please see Ms. Staub in the front office if you have questions about your obligations.&#8221; </p>
<p>Sophomore and Freshmen yearbooks will be distributed Thursday, May thirteenth. If anyone still wants to purchase a yearbook, please see Mr. Tom Miller in room 206, or speak to any member of the yearbook staff.  Supplies are limited, and will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis. </p>
<p>This is a reminder that ticket purchases for prom are reserved for Juniors and Seniors. Any one planning to attend prom must complete a dance guidelines form. Any Junior or Senior who would like to bring an alumni under the age of twenty-one, a junior or senior from another school, or an underclassman as a date will need to complete a form for that individual as well. Forms are available on the bulletin board outside of room 215, in room 430, in the front office, in the Media Center, and at the ticket sales table.  Tickets will be sold from Monday, May tenth until Thursday, May twentieth during all lunch shifts. </p>
<p>Attention AP students—did you just decide to take that AP exam?  You can register for a late exam no later that Wednesday, May twelfth.  To do this, you need to see Mrs. Rutten in the front office and you must bring a check for one hundred twenty-six dollars.  Absolutely no requests for tests will be taken after Wednesday, May twelfth, and we cannot put you on the testing list without payment. Also, students taking AP tests are reminded to bring a picture ID to every AP test.</p>

<p>Students who are signed up for the Broadway trip:  The final meeting will be held this Wednesday, May 5fifth, at two-thirty in room 210.  All students are expected to attend.</p>
<p>Congratulations to the MHS Girls Tennis Team on their win against Tuscarora on Friday.  Middletown defeated Tuscarora three to two. Individual winners included Leah Cockerham, Katie Mark, Kate Binzer, Casey Lindberg, Lauren Cevallos, and Meredith Deener.</p>
<p>Attention NHS Members:  A student is in need of a tutor for Algebra 3.  If you are interested in tutoring, please see Mrs. Athey in Room 519.</p>
<p>Mrs. Athey would like to give a big thank you to the following NHS students who participated in the Brain Tumor Society&#8217;s Race for Hope yesterday in Washington, DC:  Mike Adams, Taylor Burdette, Brady Dailey, Christine Evans, Grace Falkenstein, Erica Fissel, Nicole Hood and Jenna Wolf.   So far, our team has raised one thousand five hundred and seventy-five dollars to help fund Brain Tumor Research.  It was a great day, and  Mrs. Athey is looking  forward to next year&#8217;s event! </p>
<p>The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet tomorrow morning at six forty-five in the choral room.  Everyone is invited for a time of fellowship, prayer, food, and fun.  That&#8217;s tomorrow morning at six forty-five. </p>
<p>Mark your calendar! On Friday, May seventh, we have an entertainment double header: TBA, our resident Improv Troupe, will perform at seven pm, followed by the final original Radio Show, One Star, written and directed by Eric Looney with a cast of thousands&#8230; or.. uhhh&#8230; many.
