Winter has come again and with it, another season of girl’s indoor track.

Sarah Wrieden said the team’s goal for this season is to “reclaim the state title.”

The team knows that with such high goals it will be a challenge and they’ll have to work hard to achieve it, especially with many key members of the team having graduated last year.

According to Wrieden their biggest competition will be Clarksburg.

The team will have to overcome Clarksburg and the many other teams in the league to be successful.

Each member of the team also has set her own personal goals. Wrieden just wants to beat her own records and she wants to see how the new team will fair.

“Its exciting to see what the new girls will bring to the team,” said Wrieden.

If the team gels together and they work hard, the state title could be within their grasp.

As the 2009 indoor track season nears, the Middletown High School boys indoor track team hopes that all their hard work throughout the year will pay off and lead to a successful season.

To ensure positive results, Coach Boyer has been working to group the fastest runners together and make decisions that will put his team in position to do well.

MHS junior Rakim Hamilton was very confident when saying that the team expects “to win states”.

Despite losing several varsity runners, Hamilton believes that the team has what it takes to improve on last year’s results and said that he would “be disappointed if [the team] doesn’t win states.”

“We need to show pride and be more enthusiastic around the track,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton, along with MHS junior teammate Hunter Lumley and senior teammates Austin Strine and Lance Lagos, hopes to do his part by winning the 4 x 2.

This year’s indoor track team hopes to follow behind their talented sprinters in order to have a chance at the title when all is said and done.

All the meets will be held at Hagerstown Community College so come cheer them on this winter.
