Thousands of students, led by Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg, protested in New York City and across the globe in an effort to bring awareness to the dangers of climate change and to urge world leaders to take action. Middletown High School students shared their thoughts on Greta and the protests.

MHS junior Paige Henson said that the protests would help bring light to the subject and bring change to people’s views on climate change.

Although some students thought it was going to have an effect, some students thought that nothing would come out of the protests.

Greta Thunburg and the protests “aren’t going to affect legislature very much” and that these protests don’t lead to much action anyway, said MHS sophomore Benjamin Bradford.

Some students believed in the protests and the message but would steer clear of participating.

“I don’t think I personally would participate,” said MHS sophomore Erin Kady, “although I do believe in the cause that she’s supporting.”
