Announcements: Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Last week, the word went out that there were only one hundred yearbooks left.  As of yesterday, that number was down to sixty-three.  That’s it.  No more yearbooks will be printed.  When they are gone, they’re gone.  Don’t miss out!  Go to jostens yearbooks dot com to order yours today.  If you are unsure whether you’ve ordered one, play it safe and check with Mr. Kady in Room 312.

Attention all seniors interested in speaking at graduation:  Due to the high level of interest, the deadline for signing up to speak or perform at graduation has been extended until the end of the day on Wednesday, April sixteenth.  Sign up with Mrs. Duva in room 514.  You will not need a copy of your speech or lyrics at that time.  The audition date is Tuesday, April twenty-second after school in the auditorium.  If you have any questions or concerns, please see Mrs. Duva.

April is National Poetry Month and that means it’s time for the annual MHS poetry contest. You can submit up to three original poems either in print or by email to Mrs. Reickel or Mrs. Sgrignoli in the MHS Media Center. The deadline for entering is Friday, April twenty-fifth, and first prize is a thirty-dollar gift card from Barnes and Noble.

Any students who have already taken Introduction to Athletic Coaching and would like to help at Middletown Elementary School’s Field Day this spring, should stop by to get a permission slip from Coach Leber.

There will be a free SAT prep session on Saturday, April twenty-sixth at MHS. Students interested in attending may sign up in the Counseling Office. The deadline to register is Friday, April twenty-fifth.

Cast and Crew members for Arsenic and Old Lace and The Sound of Music should stop by room 508 to fill out a drama awards ballot.  Mark your calendar for Saturday, May third for the Drama Banquet.

The Drama Boosters are sponsoring a scholarship for any senior involved in MHS drama. See the drama board or Mrs. Nicklas for more information.  Deadline for entry is April twenty-eighth.

Prom tickets will be on sale during all lunch shifts from April twenty-first through May first. Students attending CTC and work study students may purchase their tickets before or after school in the front office. No tickets will be sold without a signed Dance Form! Dance forms are available in the front office, outside room 414, in room 430, in the media center and at the ticket table during all lunch shifts. Please see Mrs. Mattingly or Ms. Cashdollar with any questions.

April showers, National Poetry Month, Movies, and Pizza!  The Middletown Branch Library will celebrate it all today at three fifteen with Movie Poetry and Slammin’ Pizza! Bring a friend, help chose the movie from our selection, and enjoy! Hope to see you there!

The boys tennis winners against Frederick yesterday were Taiki Haugen in first singles and Isaac Hoehn in second singles. Congratulations boys!

Please remember to vote for the Student Member of the Board.  MHS junior, Eva Tooley, is a candidate and you can show your support by going to the FCPS home page and clicking on the link to vote or use the QR code on the posters in the cafeteria. Voting is open until April twenty-fourth.
