Are you interested in a STEM Internships for 2019-2020 School Year? NCI Werner H Kirsten  & USAMRIID Applications are now open. Students, Are you Interested in Science, Statistics, journalism or computer graphics? There are opportunities available for you at NIH / Ft. Detrick through two programs: 2019-2020 NCI Werner H Kirsten Student Intern Program and USAMRIID Intern Program, Applications are now being accepted. Contact  Mrs. Gibson for more information.

This year is Chords of Courage’s 2nd Annual STEP UP! Student Songwriting Contest.  It is the only contest of its kind and is only happening in Frederick County. This contest is for all middle and high school students in Frederick County.  Students are encouraged to write songs about people of particular courage. Song subjects last year ranged from the Parkland FL shooting, to Harriet Tubman, to a teacher battling cancer but sharing her love for reading. MHS senior Samantha Johnson won the high school division last year for the song she wrote, performed, and accompanied on her guitar.

The Academic Tournament Team will hold its first meeting in Mr. Kirkendall’s room on Wednesday, November 14th after school.

Congratulations to the girls cross country team for finishing fourth at the state 2A championships.  The team was represented by Nelly Stafford, Campbell Caldwell, Marin Bartman, Renee Washart, Keren McRea, Annushka Aliev, and Marilyn Fisher.
