Are you interested in a STEM Internships for 2019-2020 School Year? NCI Werner H Kirsten  & USAMRIID Applications are now open. Students, Are you Interested in Science, Statistics, journalism or computer graphics? There are opportunities available for you at NIH / Ft. Detrick through two programs: 2019-2020 NCI Werner H Kirsten Student Intern Program and USAMRIID Intern Program, Applications are now being accepted. Contact  Mrs. Gibson for more information.

Are you a Sophomore or Junior high school student looking towards your future?  Are you interested in particpating in an Apprenticeship in the fields of Hospitality, Medicine, Automotive, Plumbing, Electrician, Orthodontics, Manufacturing, and many more?  There is a summit to hear from Employers and about the program on December 19th. FCPS will provide transportation from your Home School to FCC, lunch, and networking opportunities for the day.  Please contact Mrs. Gibson or Mr. Zimmer for more information.

Ever wonder what it would be like to work at an aquarium? The National Aquarium in Baltimore is looking for students interested in Marine Biology for its student summer intern program. See Ms. Chestnutt in Room 512 for details and to pick up an application. Applications are due December 6th.

This year is Chords of Courage’s 2nd Annual STEP UP! Student Songwriting Contest.  It is the only contest of its kind and is only happening in Frederick County. This contest is for all middle and high school students in Frederick County.  Students are encouraged to write songs about people of particular courage. Song subjects last year ranged from the Parkland FL shooting, to Harriet Tubman, to a teacher battling cancer but sharing her love for reading. MHS senior Samantha Johnson won the high school division last year for the song she wrote, performed, and accompanied on her guitar.

The Academic Tournament Team will hold its first meeting in Mr. Kirkendall’s room today, November 14th after school.

Middletown will be hosting a National Letter of Intent ceremony today at 3:30 pm in the Heritage Room with the following student-athletes participating, Sydney Wilbur York College Volleyball,  Alexa Orlando University of New Haven Tennis, Roland Hockenbery University of Delaware Lacrosse, Luke Hallman Robert Morris University Lacrosse, Dillon Dierman Vassar College Lacrosse, Jacob Stafford Lehigh University Swimming. Feel free to stop by and join us today as we celebrate with these outstanding student-athletes and families.
