‘Top Gear’ host’s firing causes differing views

Middletown High School students had many differing opinions about Jeremy Clarkson’s firing from his position as host of a long-running car show, Top Gear.

Clarkson, host of much-loved British television program Top Gear, was officially fired for becoming involved in a fracas with a producer of the show. Clarkson punched the producer after being told that there was no warm food to eat.

Some students who had been big fans of Clarkson were very angry that he was sacked.

Spencer Barron, MHS junior, said,  “I love Jeremy Clarkson. He should be reinstated, not as a host, but as head of the show, and the BBC.”

Even students who weren’t weekly watchers of the show had negative opinions about the firing.

Sage Fagbohun, MHS junior, said that Clarkson was a “cool guy” and shouldn’t have been fired.

However, other students agreed heavily with the decision that had been made.

Alejandro Valdes, MHS sophomore, said that Clarkson should be given an even harsher penalty than just being fired.
