Girl suspended for pierced nose

In the news:

Suspended for piercing her nose, a 12 year old girl recognizes that her Indian culture is sometimes hard for  some Americans to understand, according to a report by msnbc.com.

Suzannah Pabla wanted to reconnect to her heritage  through piercing her nose which is a cultural choice in India. To her Utah public school this was a violation of the dress code, the body-piercing ban, and decided to suspend her for it.

The school and Pabla reached a compromise, saying that if she wore a clear stud then she could return to school.

What people are saying:

“People can’t control what I do with my body, so if I want to get a piercing or a tattoo they shouldn’t be able to say anything or punish me for it.” – MHS junior Ryan Wolf
