Attention Science Interns – All USAMRIID applications are due to Mrs. Gibson (Room 315) by Friday, January 12th. Everything must be complete – including application, transcript, letter, and teacher recommendations – Please see Mrs. Gibson if you have any questions.

The senior class is holding a shoe drive for Casa Hogar Orphanage in Naco, Mexico until Friday, January 19th. Casa Hogar, a severely underfunded orphanage in northern Mexico, houses 17 children aged 16 months to 16 years old. One of their greatest needs are shoes. By spending just 5 minutes sorting through your or your younger sibling’s closet, you can find shoes that will make a child’s entire year. Please bring your lightly used shoes in grocery bags marked with sizes to the collection bin in the cafeteria, and see Rachel Heuver, Mrs. Boyll, or Mrs. Anderson with questions.

Students from the Model UN club competed in a simulation on Saturday discussing topics such as Human population and its impact on water scarcity, as well as reforming the security council. Marilyn Fisher and Elaine Brandenburg won honorable mention for their countries position paper regarding the topic, and James Bongard won for overall best position paper for the general assembly. Hannah Prensky was awarded Best Delegate representing China in the security council. Congratulations to all who participated.

Social Studies tutoring, including HSA tutoring, will be held on Mondays and Thursdays during the months of January and February.  No social studies tutoring will be held on Wednesdays during the months of January and February.

The girls basketball team defeated Smithsburg last night, 57-39. Great job girls! Their next game will be home on Friday against South Carroll.

The boys basketball team defeated Smithsburg last night, 71-40. The top scorers for the Knights were Brian Walker and Dan Boush with 17 points and Reese Poffenbarger with 10. Awesome job boys! Their next game will be away on Friday against South Carroll.

The Middletown Knights wrestling team defeated Brunswick and Smithsburg last night. Middletown against Brunswick 73-6 and then Middletown against Smithsburg 63-12. Congratulations on a great team effort.
