Several students participated in the Model UN conference at Hood College this past weekend.  Topics ranged from violence against women to global pandemics. Yiting Lin and Sergio Diaz were awarded a scholarships for their position paper and Myles Bradford was honorable mention best delegate for his performance on Saturday. Congratulations to all students that participated.

Are you interested in Horticulture? Take a look and see what MHS Horticulture students have been up to lately.

Wyatt Dempsey is currently featured in the Middletown Citizen newspaper as Student of the Week. MHS social studies teacher Lindsey Purcell nominated Wyatt Dempsey. Purcell said, “Wyatt is a great asset to the class… I appreciate his interest in history and curiosity to learn more.” Check out reporter Leah Heon’s profile of Dempsey in the Citizen.

Do you like trivia?  Well the business department is hosting a free KQ Trivia event the week of January 29th thru February 1st.  Get your team (2-4) together to show your stuff for the chance at prizes. Top performing teams will receive an Olive Garden lunch the first week in February. All teams must pre-register using the QR code (*QR on image) on the flyers around the school.  Registration ends January 25th.

Students interested in participating in the Winter Pep Rally Staff vs. Students Basketball game on February 8th should see Mr. DeSimone for a participation form.  Forms will also be available in the cafeteria during lunch.  We are looking for student players, coaches, officials, and announcers.  Participation forms must be signed and returned in order to get one of the limited positions.  Winter athletes are not eligible to participate as a player.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. DeSimone.

The Middletown Knights wrestling team defeated Brunswick on January 9th at Brunswick 62-13.  Individual winners included: Colin Bower, Kyle Malko, Landen Harbaugh, Jason Guglielmini, Clark Cheairs, Riley Sheng, J.T. Holcomb, Zach Brady, Vince Green and Kris Guerrero.  The Knights wrestle this weekend at Poolesville High School for the Dorsey Duals. Good luck Knights!
