Students – Are you Interested in Science, Statistics, journalism or computer graphics?  There will be an information meeting at Middletown High School on Wednesday, October 24th from 2:30 to 3:30 in the Media Center  for the NIH/NCI Internship Program. The Program coordinator from Ft. Detrick will be here to present the information and answer questions. Please contact  Mrs. Gibson for more information

Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children Story Contest: The media center is hosting a story contest open to all MHS students. Create an original short story or script of one thousand words or less that incorporates at least three photographs. All entries due on Thursday, October twenty-fifth. Winners will be announced at the first Cocoa House. First place winner will receive a signed copy of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and a five dollar gift card to Curious Iguana. Calling all poets, storytellers, artists, actors, and musicians. Want to perform a spooky, scary, Halloween-themed poem, short story, skit, or song at this year’s first MHS Cocoa House? The Cocoa House is returning on Halloween, Wednesday, October thirty-first during Knight’s Quest. Submit your performance piece to Ms. Weaver for approval.

High school sophomores and juniors: Nominations are open through Friday, November 2 at 4 PM to apply to serve as the 2019-2020 Student Member of the Board of Education.

Field hockey won the Central Maryland Conference title on Saturday defeating the Linganore Lancers 3-1. Two goals came from Paige Welch with assists from Lilly Hoffman and Hayley Barnett and one goal from Hayley Barnett with assist from Madison Stewart. Kaila Tom earned the win with 8 saves in the goal. Congratulations on being 2018 CMC champions! The girls match up against Century Thursday in the second round of playoffs. Good luck girls!

JV girls soccer had their season finale Thursday night at Boonsboro and came away with a hard fought 1-0 win. Jayden Ellett scored the lone goal of the game. Allie Page and Maggie Perkins combined for the shut out.

Volleyball beat Walkersville 3 sets to none Thursday night. Sydney Wilber had a double double with 11 kills and 20 digs. Grace Paulishak had 6 kills and 11 digs. Michelle Newkirk had 27 assists and 7 digs. Maura Doherty and Allison Shaulis each had 10 digs.

The last home volleyball match is tomorrow.  It’s Volleyball for Veterans Night so put on your red, white and blue, grab your favorite veteran and come to the match.  Don’t forget to bring a new unwrapped toy for the Marines Toys for Tots campaign.
