Attention juniors and seniors: The following colleges will be making visits to MHS soon: Frederick Community College on Thursday, October 25 and Shepherd University on Monday, October 29.

All visits will be during Knights Quest. Please sign up through your Naviance Account.  All sign-ups close 24 hours before the visit. If you have any problems, see Mrs. Bertulaitis in counseling.

In addition, registration for CTC shadowing has begun. There are 21 different programs, and students may choose to shadow one or two programs. Shadowing will begin Thursday, November 1. Please see Mrs. Bertulaitis in counseling for more information or to sign up. In addition, CTC is having their annual Open House this Thursday night, October 25, 6-8pm. This is open to the community and all FCPS families.

Science National Honor Society Acceptance Letters were distributed yesterday during Knightsquest.  If you submitted an application as a new member and didn’t receive a letter, please see Mrs. Brandt in room 307 as soon as possible.

Also all members must complete the google form asap. This link was on the acceptance letters and sent via remind to last years members.

October is National Bully Prevention Month and this week is World Character Counts Week. Today we will celebrate Unity Day and U-KNIGHT in kindness, empathy, acceptance, and inclusion. Our Unity Day activities include:

-Wearing orange, a color commonly associated with safety, visibility, and warmth.

-During Knight’s Quest, the Students Voices club is hosting a Unity Day assembly where student performers and speakers will spread messages of kindness, empathy, acceptance, and inclusion.

-During lunch, students will have a chance to add their name Six Degrees of Separation poster, a way to show the chain of friends and how we are six or fewer steps away from our connections.

Students – Are you Interested in Science, Statistics, journalism or computer graphics?  There will be an information meeting at Middletown High School today from 2:30 to 3:30 in the Media Center  for the NIH/NCI Internship Program. The Program coordinator from Ft. Detrick will be here to present the information and answer questions. Please contact Mrs. Gibson for more information

Calling all poets, storytellers, artists, actors, and musicians. Want to perform a spooky, scary, Halloween-themed poem, short story, skit, or song at this year’s first MHS Cocoa House? The Cocoa House is returning on Halloween, Wednesday, October thirty-first during Knight’s Quest. Submit your performance piece to Ms. Weaver for approval.

Have you read or do you want to read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas? Don’t miss out of the opportunity to be part of a group of students who will read the book, see the movie in theaters, and be part of a discussion with other schools and community members. Interested? See Ms. Weaver in the media center for more details.

High school sophomores and juniors: Nominations are open through Friday, November 2 at 4 PM to apply to serve as the 2019-2020 Student Member of the Board of Education.

Volleyball lost to Tuscarora last night in three sets. Kate Pusey had 6 kills.  Grace Paulishak had 10 digs, Megan Gilbart had 10 digs and Michele Newkirk had 9 digs and 16 assists. With the help of friends from Tuscarora, they collected tons of toys for Toys for Tots and sponsored 30 wreaths to be laid on veterans graves during Wreaths Across America in December.

JV volleyball beat Tuscarora last night in their last home match of the season. Sophie Frizzell had 5 aces and 4 kills, Haydyn Wiright had 5 Kills and Hannah Derr had 11 digs.

Field hockey will travel to century on Thursday for a two A west sectional game starting at 3:30.

Tomorrow, boys soccer will host Seneca Valley at six pm for a playoff game. Come out to support your knights in action and remember the admission price for playoffs is six dollars.

Middletown cross country will compete in the Frederick County Championships tomorrow at Governor Thomas Johnson High School. Varsity start times are 3 and 3:30.
