High school sophomores and juniors: Nominations are open through Friday, November 2 at 4 PM to apply to serve as the 2019-2020 Student Member of the Board of Education.

All members of the Science National Honor Society must sign up for REMIND to get important information concerning membership and the induction ceremony. The code can be found on the SNHS Bulletin Board in the cafeteria as well as outside of Mrs. Brandt’s room.


Make-up photo day for those who missed the first photo day or want to have their photos retaken will be on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The schedule for make-ups and retakes will be posted on the bulletin boards in the main hallway and outside Room 312, and outside the auditorium doors. It will also be posted on Twitter @mhsrtnews and Instagram @mhsrtnews. Students who wish to have their photos retaken must bring their original photos with them to the auditorium. To order photos go to mylifetouch dot com and enter your Picture Day ID: MJ718258Q0. Students are not required to purchase photos to have their photo appear in the yearbook. The Student Government Association hopes that everyone enjoyed our pep carnival on Friday. Congratulations to our Hershey’s Kisses guessing game winners: Luke Pryor, Erin Kady, and Sophie Frizzell. Please see Mrs. Barlow for your gift card.

Volleyball lost to South Hagerstown last Thursday. Grace Paulishak had 5 kills and 14 digs, Michele Newkirk had 9 digs and 25 assists and Sydney Wilber had 9 kills and 8 digs.

Grayson Whitesell placed 9th at yesterday’s County Cross Country meet. Middletown’s other top 5 runners were Jerry Bower, Zach Spurrier, Justin Murdock, and Ryan Walchuck.

Girls cross country team finished in 3rd place at the Frederick County Championships. Medalists were Nelly Stafford, Campbell Caldwell, and Marin Bartman. Keren McRea, Renee Washart, Annushka Aliev, and Marilyn Fisher also represented the varsity squad.

The girls finished 2nd in the JV race, led by Lizzie Brown’s 9th place finish. The team was also represented by Brynn Poffenbarger, Olivia Errara, Abigail McRea, Grace Humble, Catherine Mahoney, Lauren Young, and Morgan Vandre. The team competes at Regionals next Thursday at Liberty High.

Tonight is the ice hockey teams first game. Come out to the Hagerstown Ice and Sports Complex at 7:30.
