The MHS National Honor Society would like to thank everyone in the MHS community who made contributions during our annual food drive last week to benefit local families for the holidays.  We delivered one thousand and eighty-eight packaged items and canned goods to the Middletown Food Bank on Friday.

Congratulations to the three first period classes who brought in the highest number of cans. The first place winner was Mr. Malafarina’s class, who contributed two hundred eighty-one soup items. In second place was Mrs. Shriner’s class, with one hundred seven canned pumpkin products, and in third was Mr. Leber’s class, with sixty-four cans of pears. These three classes will be treated to milk and donuts.

‘What’s that book you’re reading?’ ‘Is it good?’ Does this inquiry leave you speechless? Or have you read a book that has left you speechless?  Yes, this afternoon’s teen program at the Middletown Branch Library is a meeting of the ‘Not Book Group, Book Group’!   Stop by and experience speechless; and next week, think beautiful!

Today is the Great American Smokeout.  This is a day when smokers are asked to quit smoking or using tobacco products for a day, with the hope that they will quit for good.  According to the Surgeon General, quitting smoking has major and immediate health benefits for men and women of all ages.  If you have a family member or friend who is a smoker, try to encourage them to participate, so they may lead a longer, healthier life.

Congratulations to Kayla Topper and John McCahy for being selected as Mr. and Miss November by the Senior Class Executive Board.  Kayla and John will be receiving  gift cards to the Main Cup.

Today we are celebrating our custodians for all that they do at MHS. As a surprise, The SGA has provided donuts and muffins for breakfast as a thank you gift. If you see a custodian around the school today, say thank you!
