Covid affects traditional Halloween

Covid affects traditional Halloween

Last year’s pandemic seriously changed how families celebrated Halloween. Last year during the pandemic, Halloween was the most different we have ever seen. Emails were going around telling families that children were prohibited from trick or treating, and people even put up signs in their yards stating how trick or treating would be cancelled due to COVID-19.

Everyone plans were being cancelled. Families couldn’t have annual Halloween parties or traditions, and kids couldn’t go trick or treating. This pandemic has affected the entire world for the year and a half it has been going around. It hasn’t only impacted Halloween, but many other things as well.

Although last year’s Halloween didn’t go as planned, kids are excited for this year’s Halloween because they will now be allowed to trick or treat again! After a whole year and a half of sitting around, kids finally get to dress up and go out for halloween.

Families can get back to their traditions and children can enjoy what they always have. Although, since the pandemic is still here, we have to make sure we are maintaining the safety of ourselves and others.

Halloween will not be the exact same but for the most part it should still be very fun for the kids. Because some kids may be too young for vaccinations, it is important to stay safe. This may include not walking directly up to someone’s house without a mask. Some sources say that neighbors in neighborhoods will be placing candy in the yard kind of like a candy scavenger hunt.

By doing this, kids can still have a fun Halloween and stay safe at the same time. Also, this year we will definitely be seeing more candy bowls. Some people may not want kids coming up to their houses so they may just leave out a candy bowl.

Yes the pandemic has been a drastic change in all of our lives, but by staying safe and making good choices, we can still make this upcoming halloween fun for everyone.
