Calling all artists, writers and performers! The Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration 2015 is right around the corner. If you would like to submit a piece of visual art, an essay or poem, or a request to perform at the celebration, please pick up information from Ms. Leonard in Room 510 or from Ms. Reickel in the media center. Ms. Lehman and Mr. Shearer also have information for artists and performers. This is a wonderful opportunity for Middletown High School students to showcase their talents and Celebrate twenty-five years of Vision Into Action by Dr. King.

Science National Honor Society applications for new members are due to Mrs. Brandt in room 307 by 2:30 on Wednesday, October 3. Applications will not be accepted after that date. Existing members of the Science National Honor Society should have completed the registration form found online by yesterday. If you did not complete the form, see Mrs. Brandt as soon as possible.

Attention to all those re-taking the HSA Biology and HSA Government tests next week: Please stop by the Media Center and pick up study materials from Mrs. Reickel. You are also invited to come in for Government tutoring on Thursday from 2:25 to 3:25. Improve your chances of passing these important tests by seeing Mrs. Reickel today!

Juniors and Seniors: MHS has a lot of Colleges visiting this week so make sure you sign up and sign up early. Tomorrow is Randolph-Macon College, Lebanon Valley College and Kent State University. Friday we will have High Point University, St. Mary’s College of Maryland and Mount St. Mary’s. Please sign up at the Counseling Center or on your own through your Naviance account.

Attention all Model UN members: Remember that the organizational meeting at the FCPS building in downtown Frederick is this Saturday October fourth from nine forty-five to noon. It is important for you to attend this meeting in order to pick your country. If you have questions, please stop in room 211 and speak with Ms. Purcell.

Students taking Virtual on-line classes should have received an email from Mrs. Bator regarding how to sign up for proctored mid-term exams. If you have not received an email to your Google account or cannot access the sign-up sheet, please see Mrs. Bator in Room 215. If you have to take your mid-term with your instructor you do not need to register here. You only have to register if you are to take the test at MHS with Mrs. Bator.

Attention Freshmen who are interested in serving on the Freshmen Executive Board: There is a short meeting after school on Friday October third in room 516 with Mrs. Anderson. Please come and bring a friend to room 516 on Friday.

Congratulations to Samantha Breeze, Brittany Conyers, Sean Joyce, Julia Usiak, and Jacqueline Weaver who have been named Commended Students in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than one point five million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the PSAT, so this is a wonderful accomplishment.
