Congratulations to the MHS Marching Band who placed first in their competition at Northwest High School on Saturday and also for receiving the overall sportsmanship award!

Are you a fan of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins? Did you know that since 2010 this novel has made the top ten of the most banned books? September 21-27 is Banned Books Week. You might be very surprised at another popular series that has previously made the top ten banned list. Stop by Ms. Leonard’s office, Room 510, and correctly tell her the name of the other popular series to receive a “sweet treat.”

Please remember to submit your Meritorious Service Learning hours to Transition Education in Room 315. The form is located on the MHS website and outside Room 315. Hours must be submitted by September 30 To\e recognized in the Fall Awards Program.

Come out today after school and help work on the FFA float for the Heritage Day Parade. We will be working on the float from 12:30 until we are done but no later than 2:30. Please see Mrs. Shriner or Mrs. Seiser for more details and information on riding on the float. Anyone interested in riding can meet us at 8:00 in the morning on Saturday.

Seniors: The last day to turn in your senior forms for the yearbook is this Friday, September 26. If you want us to know your favorite quote and the interesting things you are involved in, turn those forms into a yearbook staff member or put them in the box outside Room 312. Extra forms are available next to the box. No forms will be accepted after Friday, September 26.

Juniors and Seniors: Meeting with college reps who visit MHS is a great way to get a first look at colleges. If you would like to attend one of the presentations, please sign up through your Naviance account on your own or at the Counseling Center. Colleges visiting MHS this week include Washington College and West Virginia State University.

Applying for NHS? Need some service hours? Please see Mrs. Steger for a permission slip if you would like to face paint this weekend at the Middletown Heritage Days anytime from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
