As part of the ongoing Moving Mountains speaker series, Frederick Community College will welcome public relations specialist and Emmy award-winning journalist Sherrie Johnson to campus on Wednesday, Jan. 20th to speak from seven to 8:00 P.M. in FCC’s Visual and Performing Arts Center. The free monthly series, open to the public, is designed to encourage teens and young adults to set the bar high in their professional choices, finances, relationships and life ambitions. Each month, exceptional professionals share their stories and encourage teens to reach their potential.

Students enrolled in an online class through the Frederick County Public School Virtual School that need to have a unit exam, midterm or final proctored, please see Mrs. Bator in Room 215 to schedule a time or email her at Pamela dot Bator at F C P S dot org.

The science national honor society is having a meeting this Thursday from 2:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. in Ms. Brandt’s room. There will be important information for seniors at this meeting.

Attention students interested in becoming a member of the Middletown High School National Mathematics Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta:  You may pick up an application outside Mrs. Anderson’s classroom, Room 516.  Applications are due by Jan. 29th.

Attention National Honor Society Members: This is a reminder that there is no meeting today.  Also, remember that Knights Connection starts today at Middletown Middle School.

Time to cut loose on some Footloose updates! We’ve gone digital with the audition sign-up forms.  The link and QR Codes are posted on the bulletin board outside the theater. All are encouraged to audition! Footloose is an eighties Rock Musical – so there’s going to be a lot of big hair, bright colors and great fun as we work together to mount this production.

New this spring – The MHS Knights Out Loud Performance Club is hosting two sessions to help students prepare for Footloose auditions. The sessions will occur during club time. This Friday, Jan. 15th, Ms. Dodson and Ms. Susan will be here to help students with an acting and singing workshop. On Friday, Jan. 29th, Dee Buchanan will be here to help interested students with moving and dancing preparation for auditions. Sign-ups are also digital with links and QR codes on the bulletin boards outside the theater.

A final Footloose update for all: There with be two Footloose Information Sessions. We ask all potential cast and tech crew to be at one of these two meetings as part of the requirements for participation. You can choose either Friday, Feb. 5th during club time or Monday, Feb. 8th after school. Sign-ups are digital with links and QR codes on the bulletin boards outside the theater. For any of the club day sessions you attend, you must pick up a pass from Ms. Duva or Ms. Denton on the Thursday before the session in-between classes or after school.
