In a recent announcement that surprised no one who follows political coverage, republican senator  Ted Cruz from Texas announced he’s running for president.

Middletown High School students gave mixed reactions about this announcement.

MHS junior Sage Fagbohun was critical of Cruz’s decision and didn’t think he was the best person to run for president.

“I think Obama’s chances of winning a third term and breaking the constitution are greater than Ted Cruz’s chances of even winning the nomination,” said Fagbohun.

Fagobhun also poked fun at the candidate.

He added that Ted Cruz was the “Kanye West of politics.”

MHS junior Spencer Barron said if Cruz becomes the voice of his generation, his generation is “terrible.”

Alyssa Klink, MHS junior, disagreed. She said Cruz will be “very dogmatic.”
