Different version of Zelda delivers original excitement

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is an action-adventure for the Nintendo, Gamecube, and Wii, and was published by Nintendo. Like all Zelda games, the player controls Link, but this game is unique in many ways. In this game, the player has to save the land of Hyrule from being engulfed by the twilight realm, a place where the antagonist, Zant, hales from.

The story starts out in Link’s home, Ordon Village, where you have to perform some small tasks for the townspeople as a tutorial. As the game progresses, Link finds out that he has to save Hyrule from Zant, a king of a race known as the Twili.

In previous games Link had the help of different creatures such as fairies, talking hats, and a talking ship.  In this game, however, Link is aided by an imp from the twilight realm, known as Midna. Link and Midna have to go to different dungeons to get different relics to stop Zant and restore Hyrule to its previous state.

In this game, Link is able to change into a wolf, which is similar to Majora’s Mask, where Link could transform into different races popular to the lore of Zelda. The wolf form is necessary in the game because there are certain things in the dungeons and the twilight realm that only Wolf Link can perform, such as defeating enemies that are invisible to the human eye. The gameplay itself is similar to Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker in that the player has to go to dungeons, solve puzzles, and defeat bosses.

The graphics of the game can be described as a very improved version of Ocarina of Time. The graphics were originally going to be similar to that of Wind Waker where the graphics were cel-shaded and very cartoonish. Due to the sluggish sales of Wind Waker, one of the designers of the game, Shigeru Miyamoto, decided to make the graphics more mature and realistic to increase sales.

The Wii version and the Gamecube versions are different from each other in that the Wii version is a mirrored version of the Gamecube one.  In the original Zelda games, Link is left-handed, but due to the remote being designed for right-handed people, the game had to be mirrored to match the remote. The Wii version is more enjoyable as the remote allows much more freedom during game play.

The Wii’s controls can seem troublesome when using the bow and arrow. For example, you use the remote for the aim and the sensitivity of the remote could cause the arrow being shot from the bow to not hit its target.

The Zelda Franchise has seen its good days with the release of Ocarina of Time and bad days with the release of the Zelda Cd-I games, but The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a new height reached by Nintendo and it is a must-play for all fans of the Legend of Zelda Franchise and others who want to be fans of the Zelda franchise.
