The Round Table

New wedding comedy has fans saying, “I do.”

Many little girls dream of the perfect wedding: the dress, the groom, the flowers, and of course where it’s going to be. In the recent film “Bride Wars,” starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson, two little girls dream of having their dream wedding at the Plaza Hotel in June.

The film begins with two best friends Emma and Liv having tea at the Plaza Hotel on a June afternoon. On the same day, there is a wedding and they see how beautiful everything is and how happy the bride looks.

At that moment, both decided that they would be married at the Plaza in June. Many years later Emma and Liv are still best friends and both in very serious relationships. Emma gets engaged to her boyfriend, Fletcher (Chris Pratt) and wants Liv to be her maid of honor; soon afterwards Liv gets engaged to her boyfriend Daniel (Steve Howey).

They decide to both be married at the Plaza in June and both are each other’s maids of honor. To plan their weddings, they go to a very prestigious wedding planner, Marion St. Claire (Candice Bergen).

During the grand planning of both ceremonies a problem occurs, Marion’s assistant schedules the girls’ weddings on the same day.

Trouble occurs as the girls begin competing on who can have the date, and who can’t. They end up competing and sabotaging each other’s weddings. The film has a unique plot, clever dialogue, good acting and funny schemes.

“Bride Wars” is a must see if you’re in the mood for a romantic comedy filled with spunk and attitude.

The plot of the film was unique within itself; the crazy brides, melancholy grooms, and constant need for perfection would bring laughter to anyone.

The performances from Hathaway and Hudson put this film in a much higher category.

The more sensible bride, Emma, is played by Oscar nominated actress Anne Hathaway. Hathaway is well known as the young awkward princess Mia in “The Princess Diaries” movies, but she also starred in other films such as “The Devil Wears Prada”, and “Rachel Getting Married”. Hathaway brings Emma to life with the emotion she reflects in her actions and facial expressions, and the attitude she gives Emma once the wedding wars begin.

Her best friend Liv is played by Golden Globe winner Kate Hudson. Hudson is known for many roles including “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”, and “Fool’s Gold”.  Hudson portrays Liv with great attitude and spunk to bring the outgoing bride to life.

Along with other crucial co-stars such as Kristen Johnston as Emma’s slacker friend Deb, and Bryan Greenberg as Liv’s charming brother Nate, the cast of “Bride Wars” brought the dream wedding to life for the viewers.

The film was overall better than anticipated. Yes, it had a predictable ending but the random twists thrown in kept the viewers wanting more. The bond between Emma and Liv is so strong, and Hathaway and Hudson bring the friendship to life in this year’s newest chick flick, “Bride Wars”.
