Breast Cancer Fact of the day… About 1.2 million cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year worldwide, according to the World Health Organization.
 
The Middletown golf team fell to 8-3-1 on Thursday with a 3 stroke loss to Urbana and a tie with North Carroll. At hollow creek, the Knights gave the two district champions their best challenges of the year. Urbana’s three stroke victory was the closest they came to a loss in their last two undefeated seasons. The golf team will finish their season next Wednesday against Oakdale.
 
Start shaking your banks and flipping your couch cushions. Next week the Jewelry and Sculpture class will be collecting money for Breast Cancer Awareness month during all lunches. Our goal is $500.00! Please bring in your money. All donations will go toward Team Hope.
 
The JV and V Varsity Volleyball teams continue to add to their winning streak with both teams beating Tuscarora last night putting the teams at a record of 8-0.  The next home game is this coming Monday & it is support pink breast cancer dinner so don’t forget to wear pink! 
 
Attention Dog owners:  Bring your dogs by the ag shop this Saturday from nine to five for a dog wash and toe nail trim.
 
Attention FFA members:  Our first meeting will be Wednesday October thirteenth at two thirty in Mrs. Shriner’s room four thirty nine.  There will be no club day meeting in October because members will be at the National FFA Convention.  The officers are looking forward to seeing all the FFA members there for food, fun and prizes.  Don’t forget to pick up your sandwiches in room four thirty nine after school today.
 
The Glenbrook Community is looking for student volunteers to help with their Halloween Party on Friday, October 29.  If you are able to help and would like to earn meritorious service hours, please see Mr. Zimmer.
 
Attention all MHS Concert Choir, Vocal Ensemble and Women’s Ensemble members –  our Yankee Candle fundraiser for our Spring Choral Festival Disney trip has been extended to next Thursday, Oct. 14.  So you have this weekend to start selling those candles!!  Staff please support us by purchasing your Yankee Candles in the faculty room.
 
SENIORS:  College representatives will be at MHS at the following times:  October eleventh – Randolph Macon; October thirteenth – Virginia Commonwealth; October fourteenth – Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, Virginia Wesleyan, and McDaniel; October twentieth – Frostburg; and October twenty-first – Salisbury.  Sign up with Mrs. King if interested.
 
Open Improv will meet today after school in the auditorium.  All are welcome to join the fun! 
 
Skiing and snowboarding is just around the corner.  This year, the Middletown Ski Club is planning a weekend trip to Killington, Vermont.  Permission slips and medical forms are now available.  Seats are limited, so see Mrs. Duva soon.
 
Practice is the best of all instructors.
