Abrupt midterm brings anxiety

Midterm is Feb. 20, and with the snow days breaking up the second semester schedule, it seems like midterm has arrived in the blink of an eye.

With what seems like such little time to prepare, plus pressure from parents and teachers, students are worried about their grades.

“I am concerned about my grades, “said Kate Bittle, Middletown High School Freshmen. “I pressure myself from getting bad grades and my parents push me to take advanced classes.”

Some students, however, do feel well prepared for midterm and are not worried for what their interim will hold.

“I feel like I’m doing very well in all of my classes,” said Crystal Workman, MHS Junior.

Improvement may be needed by various others in order to get their grades up by the end of the term, and ultimately the end of the school year.

“I’m going to actually do my homework. Other then that I’m doing well,” said Workman.

Midterm is a chance to “start over” and become better prepared for the end of the term. Working hard now can improve the students’ grades and bring them up to acceptable standards in the eyes of their parents.
