Journalism students get more than just the scoop at competition

Eight journalism students traveled to West Virginia University on March 6 for the WVU Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism high school journalism competition. The eight students, including Kevin Parker, Lauren Redding, Maegan Clearwood, Meghan Hughes, Kara Henson, Leah Numbers and Rosco Windon, attended workshops with WVU professors and attended an awards ceremony later that day. Clearwood placed first in editorial writing and second in news writing.. Parker placed third in editorial writing. Redding placed first in news writing and second in feature writing. Preston Frey and Sean Raleigh, who could not attend the competition, placed second in editorial writing and second in critical review.
