Students promote Gay and Straight Alliance

In recent years, students at Middletown High School have come to think people should be treated fairly and should be respected no matter what sexual preferences they have.

Due to this compassionate way of thinking, students are forming the Gay & Straight Alliance group to promote understanding of gay and straight students.

The idea was thought of by guidance counselor Sue Blair and students Lucas Dague and Jack Brown.

“This is for both gay and straight students that care about others. It doesn’t matter what your sexual preference is,” said Blair.

They plan to meet on Dec. 18 after school to organize the alliance; anyone who would like to come and support this cause is welcome to attend.

“People who come should be understanding and compassionate to others,” said Brown.

Now, wait for the hating to start. I have no doubt people will go crazy about this. While a GSA is going to be a good idea, we just live in a place that is not that accepting. If you’ve ever walked down the halls, you’ll hear people using things like “gay”, “queer”, and “fag” all as slurs against anything almost any day. It makes me so mad that people have this audacity to use a sexual preference as an attack on a person or activity. It makes me so sick.

    Have a doubpleplusgood day.
