The Las Vegas Golden Knights, the first expansion team in more than 15 years, started their very first National Hockey League season by shattering every expansion team record.
Some Middletown High School students were impressed by the team’s start.
“Its impressive how they are a winning team because they had to draft a team with all new players who have never played together before,” said sophomore Alec Augustine.
MHS junior Dan Boush added, “It’s really surprising because they’re a new team, but its happened before.”
Some MHS students said the Knights have had a positive impact on Las Vegas after the Oct. 1 shooting that left 58 dead.
“It gives the Las Vegas citizens hope for a better future and gives them something to look forward to,” Augustine said.
“It will help them unify as a community,” added MHS junior A.J. Chilson.
Boush said he was in favor of the new team and its hot start.
“I love NHL hockey and think they should expand more,” he said.
Augustine agreed. “It’s pretty cool they added a new team because now there is more diversity in the league and it opens up opportunity for a team to win a championship,” he said.
