Middletown High School students visited the Big Apple without ever leaving the gym when they went to a New York City-themed Homecoming on Oct. 6 for a time of fun and dancing.
One of the major concerns that many people had was what type of music would everyone be dancing to this year? The reason is that last year many people weren’t big fans of the music.

Victoria Robertson, a 10th-grade student, said, “It brought people together, but it didn’t have enough slow songs so it wasn’t really romantic for the couples.”
Another person had said that there wasn’t enough country music at the dance. This year everything had changed to make this homecoming much better.
This year there was a new DJ and he played all of the newest hits plus some old-time favorites. The music was set up differently and the DJ played some of the popular dance songs such as Cha Cha Slide and Cupid Shuffle.
Several people formed groups and danced to it with some of the moves that went with the song.
Amy Hoffman, a member of the homecoming committee, said that the song Gangnam Style was a huge hit. She said she got positive feedback from several of her friends and classmates.
There were more slow songs, as well, and Jonathan Roop, an 11th-grader said that it was a much better environment this year because more people went. The DJ played the artist Adele and a couple of others and people were grateful for that because the previous year the DJ didn’t really play any slow songs at all.
Almost everyone said that this year’s Homecoming was a success, although Victoria Sines, head of the playlist this year, didn’t seem to agree.

“It was worse than last year. He didn’t play any of the songs that any of the students submitted for the dance,” she said.
