Don’t forget to buy a rose for your sweetie, parent, friend or sibling this Valentine’s Day. Roses will be on sale today at all lunch shifts until sold out. Red Roses are four dollars each and all other colors are three dollars each.

Attention FFA members: Join us after school in the AG Shop at two thirty today to help make and enjoy some homemade ice cream. We will be testing our recipe for Monday Night’s Hand Crank competition at Ag Week at the Mall.

You’ve got a long weekend coming up, so why not stop by the library and pick up a book? One new title is Dangerous Lies, in which Stella sees a drug dealer murdered and ends up in the Witness Protection Program, where she can’t tell the truth about her identity to anyone–not even the very interesting Chet Falconer. Or maybe you’d prefer The Girl with the Wrong Name, about a young woman who wakes up with a hideous scar and no memory of how she got it. Want something romantic? They’ve got Nicolas Sparks and plenty more, so stop by the MHS Media Center and check it out!

Anyone interested in trying out for the MHS Boys’ Tennis team is encouraged to come to an informational meeting today, at two twenty in the Heritage Room. See Mr. Desimone if you are interested in trying out but can’t attend the meeting.

Voting has begun for the next Student Member of the Board of Education.  Voting will run through February twenty-ninth. Candidate and voting information can be found on the SGA board in the cafeteria.

Do you have a book that you love?  How about a favorite character?  Beginning today, you may complete a “Book Crush.”  The National English Honor Society would love to know who you love or who you love to hate.  Pick up a Book Crush form from an English teacher, during lunch shifts, or in the media center.  You may return them to Ms. Leonard in Room, 517 or drop them in the box in the cafeteria.

Representatives from the Frederick League of Women Voters will be at MHS in the cafeteria during lunches on Thursday, February twenty-fifth. Students who wish to register to vote should stop by the table and be sure to bring an MVA issued driver’s license, learner’s permit or a social security number.

Remember: Savannah College of Art and Design will be visiting MHS on Monday, February twenty-second at ten AM.  Please sign up through your Naviance account if you are interested in attending.

The baccalaureate planning meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February sixteenth at seven PM in the Media Center. Seniors and parents of all high schoolers are welcome to attend.

Attention all those interested in participating in crew or in builds for Footloose:  A tech meeting will be held in the auditorium after school next Thursday, February eighteenth.  The set building requirements and tech crew positions will be reviewed.  Any student who is interested is able to participate.  If you are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Duva.

Attention students interested in spending a year abroad: The Jodi Kiefer Memorial Scholarship covers one hundred per cent of the year program fee and complete airfare costs. Scholarships will be chosen by merit and proof of financial need and are applicable to any country. Applications are due March first. Please contact Mrs Stutzman in Learning Cottage three if you are interested in more information.
