Attention junior girls: Do you have an interest in learning about how government and politics really work?  Do you want to learn more about how you can fulfill your role as a responsible citizen?  Consider attending Girls’ State this summer at Salisbury University for a positive, memorable, resume building experience.  See Ms. Bagnell in the counseling office if you are interested.

Do you like to take care of animals, hike or just like to be outside? On Friday, March fourth during Activity Period, the Catoctin Creek Nature Center will be visiting in room 307. They will be talking about careers that involve animals, outdoors and all of nature. Come and see the animal pelts and skulls and much more including Madagascar hissing cockroaches,Vietnamese walking sticks, snakes, turtles and toads! To sign up, use the codes around the school or sign up during lunches in the cafeteria.

Come out and support your knights as our boys basketball team takes on Walkersville tonight in playoffs at home at six PM. Remember that no students will be permitted to stand on the floor in front of the student section.  All students must be in the seating area. All tickets are six dollars and children under seven get in free. Tickets will be on sale during all lunch shifts today.

Congratulations to the girls basketball team who beat Catoctin in playoffs on Friday night. Tomorrow night the girls will take on Walkersville at Walkersville High School.

The Middletown Knight wrestlers placed second in the 1A 2A West regional tournament on Saturday.Those placing in the top four of their weight class will be going to the state tournament this coming weekend.  Wrestlers placing first were Danny Bertoni and Adam Bain; second were Josh Paige and Sean Mullican; third were Tyler Clemmer and Ed Guerrero; fourth were Sean Herrmann and Mert Gulen. Placing fifth and state alternates are Will Davis and Sean Farron. Congratulations to all the Middletown wrestlers and good luck this weekend!

Come to the countywide Arts and Communication Academy Showcase and see your fellow MHS students showcase their talents; Alexander Hayes and Solena Rodriguez in advanced music studies and Max Lamb and Bryce Leber in advanced theatre studies. The showcase takes place on Wednesday, March second at  Governor Thomas Johnson High School. Artwork will be on display beginning at six thirty PM and Music and theatrical performances will follow. Admission is five dollars for adults and students and free to FCPS employees.

Are you Thing one or Thing two or maybe the Cat in the Hat? Wednesday, March second is Read Across America Day. Come dressed as your favorite Dr. Seuss character to honor and celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. There will be more activities to follow during the month of March to celebrate Read Across Maryland Month.
