As we continue to celebrate Read Across Maryland Month, here is a quote from Dr. Seuss: “You’re on your own and you know what you know.  And you are the one who’ll decide where to go.”  Door Decorating continues this week.  Judging will be Friday.  All students who are planning to participate in the Poetry Slam Event this Thursday have a brief meeting after school today in Ms. Leonard’s Room 517.  Please bring the piece you plan to perform.  The meeting will only last a few minutes.

“Kick Butts Day” is a day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Tobacco. On Wednesday, MHS will have a Graffiti Wall in the cafeteria where students can add their own graffiti about why they choose to be nicotine free. “Kick Butts Day” is important because every day more than three thousand kids under eighteen try smoking for the first time and seven hundred kids become new regular, daily smokers.

The Frederick County Board of Elections will be at MHS this Thursday during lunch shifts to provide a demonstration for students and staff on the new voting system. Students who are interested in registering to vote can do so on Thursday and should bring a driver’s license, permit or social security number.

Ultimate Frisbee is starting again! Come play a fast and exciting sport after school on Tuesdays from two thirty to three thirty beginning on March twenty-ninth. For more information, talk to Ms. Chestnutt in Room 512.

The Concert and Jazz bands will perform tomorrow night at seven PM in the auditorium. Come out and enjoy the show. Admission is free.

Looking for a leadership position? Applications are now available for the Frederick County Association of Student Councils Officers and Executive staff members for 2016-2017. Information and applications can be found on the SGA board in the cafeteria or see Mrs. Barlow in room 215.

Students signed up to take a dual enrollment course next year who have submitted their Permission to Test form will receive passes to their Accuplacer testing location today during fourth block. The rosters for the exam are posted on the “Knights in the Know” board in the cafeteria.

Tomorrow is National Ag Day. Don’t forget to help us celebrate by dressing up like an Ag career.

Seniors: Remember to go onto your Naviance account and update your college information. You should be indicating the results of your applications and listing the college that you are planning to attend. Also remember to refer to Naviance for scholarship information and applications.
Happy Pi Day! Those students who donated twenty-five or more books for the Science NHS drive will be called at their lunch shift to Pie a staff member.
