Announcing the Annual Arts in Education Competition, Maryland Parent Teacher Association Reflections Program: Reveal your inner artist and Let Your Imagination Fly! Choreograph a dance, produce a film, write a poem or story, compose a song, take a picture, or create a piece of visual art by interpreting this year’s PTA Reflections theme: “Let your imagination fly!”. Visit the display in the Media Center for details. Rules and entry forms are also available online at P T A dot org slash reflections. Submissions are due by Monday, Nov. 30.

If you signed up to shadow a program at Career and Technology Center either with Mrs. Anders or at the Open House, please stop by the attendance office today during lunch to pick up your invitation.

Did you know that the Middletown High School Media Center has Kindles that students can check out? That’s right, you can use a digital e-reader to check out a book from the Frederick County Public Schools high school collection and read it on one of our Kindles. You can also check out a book on your own device. Stop by the Media Center today to find out how!

The FFA has begun their annual citrus fundraiser. If you are an FFA member, see an advisor for a sales packet. Sell ten cases and become a gold member! Forms are due by Nov. 18. Volunteers are needed to sell as a group on Saturday, Nov. 7  from 10:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. We are also selling citrus at Tractor Supply on Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday Nov. 15. Sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board in the Ag hallway.

The Human Resources department of FCPS is seeking two work study students for the spring semester.  Students must have basic computer skills, and be detail and customer service oriented. The position is located at the FCPS Central Office in  Frederick.  Parking is provided and the salary is $8.25 an hour.   See Mrs. Gibson or Mr. Zimmer  for more information.

Attention tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders:  If you are interested in a career in the military and would like to take the ASVAB test, please sign up in the Counseling office by Friday, Nov. 20.

If you are a junior or senior and interested joining MHS Social Studies Honor Society Rho Kappa, come to a brief informational meeting in Ms. Purcell’s room, 211, today after school.

During the month of October, the Middletown FFA Chapter attended two national conferences. The National Junior Horticulture Association Conference in Orlando, Florida and The National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Our members made the state of Maryland very proud by receiving high honors in competitions and Josh Moore represented Maryland as a part of the National FFA Band. At NJHA, the Horticulture Team placed second, the Horticulture Team demo received first place and our floriculture students received national awards. The Milk Quality Team placed sixth at the National FFA Convention.

Seniors: don’t forget about the mandatory meeting tomorrow morning at 7:35 in the auditorium. If you don’t have a class, wait in the cafeteria, otherwise, you will be called out of class.

Last night the Middletown High school Varsity field hockey team captured the regional championship with their win against Poolesville by a score of one to zero. The goal came from Emily Delauter assisted by Tess Queen. Emma Provost is credited with the shutout and nine saves. MHS field hockey will play their State semi-final game on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Broadneck high school versus Marriott Ridge. Congratulations girls!
