Thursday, April twenty-first is National Poem in Your Pocket Day.  The National English Honor Society will be distributing “pocket poems” during lunch shifts on Thursday.  Poems will also be placed in all mailboxes in the front office.

South Mountain Arts and Crafts Studio is looking for a student intern to help manage their social media platforms.  If you are interested in working with them, please see Mrs. Gibson in Room 315.

Congratulations to the boys tennis team who improved to nine and one on the season with a win Monday night over Oakdale. Winners for the knights included Isaac Hoehn at first singles, Garrett Posey at second singles, and Ryan and Evan Tuckey. Jack Kaminski and Carter Kirchner brought the Knights to victory with their win at third doubles. Cooper Fisher also made an important uniform contribution for the Knights.

The girls tennis team also won yesterday. Congratulations to Leah Stup, Macy Horman, Jessica Yeager, Clara Tam, Tessa Hauser, Nicole Muul, Clara and Hannah Prensky for a hard fought win over Oakdale yesterday. Thank you to Ali, Chloe, Erin, Marilyn, Lily, and  Nabila for  supporting your teammates.

The eighth Annual Boonsboro Green Fest is on Saturday May seventh. There will be great food, hundreds of vendors, live music, and much more. Volunteers should sign up at Boonsboro Green Fest dot com by Monday, April twenty-fifth or see Mr. Haardt.

There will not be ultimate Frisbee after school today because it will be all windy! Don’t worry, it will be tomorrow after school instead.

Congratulations to the following MHS students who placed in the 2016 Maryland State SkillsUSA contests held on April fifteenth and sixteenth: in Auto Body – Jacob Hessong placed second in Collision Repair; in TV Multimedia –  Zoe Maliszewskyj placed third in TV and Video Production; in TV Multimedia – Maria Olney placed second in Broadcast News; and in CAD Engineering – August Shrader placed first in Career Pathways Tech. All first place Gold medal winners have earned the right to represent Maryland and compete in the SkillsUSA National Competition in Louisville, KY in late June.
In Footloose, Ren McCormick leaves the rockin’ life of big city Chicago and has a hard time adjusting to life in rural Beaumont, even with the help of bumpkins like Willard Hewitt – played by Sam Buchanan.  So for tomorrow’s Spirit Day we are going a Little Bit Country and a Little Bit Rock and Roll. Wear your Sunday Country Best or Dress like a Rock Star – or try a creative combination of both.

Remember to send your spirited selfies to @MHSDramaKnights with the hashtag  #MHSFOOTLOOSE.  At the end of the week the most spirited students’ names will be entered into a drawing for a free ticket to the show.

Rock out with us Friday and Saturday at seven PM, and Sunday at two PM for the MHS production of “Footloose: The Musical” – it will be a rockin’  good show and tickets are sure to sell out quickly!
