Today is Read Across America Day.  In the words of Dr. Seuss: “The more that you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”  Be sure to post the name of your favorite book, story, or poem by The Cat in the Hat in the Cafeteria.

MHS Teachers and Staff: Thursday is Read to Kids Day. Take a few minutes to read to a child or to your classroom. We all love to listen to a good story!

Support the boys basketball team tonight as they take on Williamsport at home at six PM. All tickets are six dollars.

Remember to sign up for the Catoctin Creek Nature Center will be visiting in room 307 on Friday during Activity Period. Use the codes around the school or sign up during lunches in the cafeteria.

Come to the countywide Arts and Communication Academy Showcase tonight at TJ and see your fellow MHS students showcase their talents; Alexander Hayes and Solena Rodriguez in advanced music studies and Max Lamb and Bryce Leber in advanced theatre studies. Artwork will be on display beginning at six thirty PM and Music and theatrical performances will follow. Admission is five dollars for adults and students and free to FCPS employees.

Congratulations to Jacob Hoyt whose digital photography piece was selected for the Congressional Art Contest and Exhibition! There were two hundred and fifty submissions and only ninety pieces selected. The Art Exhibition at Washington ArtWorks in Rockville is open to the public from Thursday, March third through Sunday, March twentieth.

Congratulations also to the MHS Students who participated in the Frederick County Career and Technology Center Skills USA Leadership contest! In Related Technical Math, Technical Drafting, Meredith Bertulaitis earned first place, Eric  Bertulaitis earned second place, and  August Shrader earned Honorable Mention. All first, second, and third place winners can go on to compete in the Skills USA Maryland State Leadership Competitions on April sixteenth.
