The four science fiction action films, “The Hunger Games”, “Catching Fire”, “Mockingjay Part 1” and “Mockingjay Part 2” of “The Hunger Games” series, directed by Gary Ross and based on the novels written by Suzanne Collins, are telling the story of the nation of Panem.

Panem is the aftermath of a huge catastrophe that impacted most of mankind. The result was a nation where the government has total power and uses it to instill fear in the people to get them to obey their unjust laws and make them workhorses. To remind the people of how good Panem is and how well their people are being taken care of, they force two youths from each district to fight to the death. This is done to remind the people that they are nothing without the generosity of their government.

Finessing the capitol, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the tributes from District 12, win the Hunger Games together. As a result, Katniss becomes a symbol for hope for the population of Panem and begins a movement for a fight against the capitol.

The plot is very interesting and comprehensive, which thrills the viewer and makes him think about the story. The first movie includes, basically, the first Hunger Games. That is a good thing, in my opinion, because it introduces the viewer to the next three movies. The first movie was good at building up a lot of tension and excitement, which makes it a great film just to watch without viewing the other movies. However, I don’t recommend only watching the first movie, because all of them are amazing. “Catching Fire” and “Mockingjay Part 1” have very open ends and since they are very suspense-packed, they make the viewer want to watch the next one.

“The Hunger Games” series is considered to be made up of action movies, and that’s definitely what they are. The way they are filmed, acted and cut along with how they use special effects makes a great combination and completes each movie. The computer-created objects especially need an extra praise.

The science fiction part, shown as unnatural animals or enormous nature activities in the arena, combines with amazing visual effects to give all of the movies the right image. Furthermore, all unnatural elements also have a natural side, which makes it easy to include them in the “real” world.

Also, Jennifer Lawrence is an excellent actor and fits perfectly in the role of the smart and rebellious Katniss Everdeen. Her acting is genuine and goes well with the atmosphere in the movies. The whole cast was a pretty good choice. They match up very well together and there is nobody that does not fit in his character or acts very inauthentic.

To conclude, these movies are 100% worth the watch and I would definitely recommend them. They are fun and fascinating and the plot is complex enough to get the viewer thinking, but not too complex.
