The search for perfect pie has come to an end

Mini apple pies ready for the holidays.

If you have been searching for a bite of the holiday season, look no further: mini pumpkin pies from a local supermarket are just the quick fix to get you in good spirits.

After buying the little treats from a plethora of grocery stores over the years, I’ve come to the conclusion that Safeway’s bakery produces the most satisfying tin full of taste I’ve had the pleasure to indulge in.

I can’t say the miniature versions are any different tasting than the normal sized pies sold from the bake shop. It’s really just the size difference that makes eating the baby dessert feel different than eating a regularly proportioned one.

Before discovering Safeway’s treats, the mini pies I’d eaten before had a filling that was almost like applesauce in consistency. The pumpkin center in these delicacies; however, is good enough to eat a whole bowl of alone. It has just a hint of spice that tops it off marvelously.

The crust is perfect in it’s slightly grainy texture that can really only come from crushed up graham crackers. The unique flavor and coarseness of the shell doesn’t distract from the zesty, festive filling, but compliments it instead. It’s so moist that you just have to wonder if what you’re eating is a no-bake product of Betty Crocker herself.

The ratio of pumpkin to crust, unlike many pastries I’ve had before, is consistently balanced no matter how many times you choose to buy the product. With there only being three inches of pie to devour in the first place, having the right proportions is everything. It’s quite literally a bite-sized treat, so if there is too much of either of the ingredients, the miniature pie experience is ruined.

This treat is just the right size for those too stuffed to have more than a minute serving of dessert after Thanksgiving feast. Even if you aren’t interested, the appearance itself is so aesthetically pleasing that you don’t even have to like pumpkin pie to want to inhale it.
