Frozen soundtrack No. 1 on Billboard 200

On Nov. 25, 2013, the widely successful soundtrack Frozen was released two days prior to the film. Not only has the movie surpassed 800 million dollars in worldwide box office revenue—the soundtrack has topped back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The Disney film’s soundtrack has bumped Katy Perry’s Prism, Lorde’s Pure Heroine, and even Beyoncé’s self-titled album lower on the chart.

Months later, the obsession over this animated film’s score continues to grow. Fans are humming the delightful duets and belting out Idina Menzel’s critically acclaimed showstopper, “Let It Go.”

What about the Frozen soundtrack makes it the only soundtrack to stay at the top for over three weeks since 2007?

Sophomore Kevin Swann says “Frozen is something fun and innovative. It isn’t like other Disney movies and is open to a wide audience.”

Frozen has proven to be so remarkably successful that it was announced on Jan. 13 to be in pre-production for a stage adaptation on Broadway.

There is no sure reason why this production has taken on such success, but senior Rebecca Holcomb says one thing is for sure, “Frozen will be around for a very long time.”
