One Direction splits into two separate pathways

Zayn Malik’s decision to leave One Direction left many Middletown High School students in shock, while others didn’t seem to know or care about the news.

Malik recently announced that he will be leaving the boy band after five years of being together with his singing mates to pursue his solo career, leaving many loyal fans devastated by this unexpected news.

The news was difficult for some who had grown to love the band’s songs.

“I’m taking it pretty hard,” said MHS senior Colson Kirchner.

Malik was considered the best singer in the group by many fans, which made the news even worse to take in and will hurt the bands popularity.

MHS freshman Hannah Prensky said Malik “was one of the most talented members of the band.”

On the other hand, many students did not find the news worth all the drama.

MHS junior Allie Hough said how Malik leaving One Direction is not a big deal.
