The new movie Insurgent causes commotion among students

Erika Gaitan gives us a review on the second movie in the divergent series, Insurgent.

Insurgent the sequel of Divergent, leaves an impeccable mark on its audience with lingering questions of “now what,” “what just happened,” and the most popular question yet “how will Four and Tris survive on the outside of a dystopian society?”

As always theres bound to be a group who has much less to say about the popular trilogy. Those who read the novel felt there was no comparing the novel with the film stating “it didn’t follow the same plot line of the book” which isn’t uncommon in motion pictures considering it is more difficult to produce action then to write and describe it.

Insurgent is about Tris Pryor, played by Shailene Woodley, a courageous, brave and show stopping main character that is willing to sacrifice everything for unity.

In a world where a dystopian society rules over its people, and the people have no say of who they get to be, conflict rules. Depending on the test results there is 5 different places you could end up, most of them without your blood family. The five places are with your faction, whether you test Abnegation, Candor, Erudite, Amity or Dauntless. Tris being Divergent meaning different, does not belong to one faction; which in turn is the root of her problems.

Tris rebels against Jeanine, the leader of the Eurdite faction because she believes instead of a separate government with each faction for themselves she believes all factions should work together to unite their strengths, weaknesses and skills.

During the film Jeanine claims she wishes to promote and ensure peace and safety for all factions but in reality she wants to wipe the weak factions like Abnegation and all people whom are Divergent to in the end gain domination of all factions.

Tris wouldn’t be able to take on the leader of the most powerful faction without Four, played by Theo James. Not only does he appeal to the eyes but he appeals to the heart for the person he is. Similarly to Tris, Four wishes to have aspects of each faction not only those of his own.

In the film conflict arises when Jeanine releases interest in a mystery box, the mystery box decorated in symbols of each faction. Janine knows the key to the box isn’t so much a key but a person, a person who is 100% Divergent possesses power to open it. What Jeanine doesn’t know is what it does when opened.

With summer right around the corner this one of a kind, action packed, romantic film is perfect to check out. See what all the commotion is about and find out what the mystery box does for the people and its factions.
