Boys basketball: Knights look for first win in opening round of playoffs

The Middletown High School Boys Basketball team will take on the Catoctin Cougars in the opening round of the 2A west regional playoffs at 6:30. The Knights are coming off of a 63-45 home loss to Brunswick on senior night. Seniors Paul Aniugo and Ian Grife led the way for the Knights. Aniugo finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds while Grife dominated the paint as he scored 18 and grabbed 15 boards. Middletown is 0-22 on the season and will look to get their first win tonight against a confident Cougar team who is coming off of a 70-58 win against Manchester Valley to improve to 2-18. The leading scorer for Catoctin was Alex Kennedy who finished with a career high 36 points including five three- pointers. The Knights will look to ride the hot shooting and rebounding of Aniugo as they try to get their first win and move into the 2A west quarterfinals.
