Boys basketball: Knights look to avenge earlier loss to FSK

Coming off its first win of the season, the Middletown High School boys’ basketball team will look to avenge a five point loss earlier this season to Francis Scott Key High School.

Middletown is coming off of a dominant performance in a 68-47 win its first round playoff game against Catoctin High School.

The Knights received large contributions from seniors Ian Grife and Howie Kalamets who put up 16 and 19 points respectively. Grife also pulled down 16 rebounds and rejected 5 shots. Junior guard Bradley Rinehart finished with 16 points and a whopping 17 rebounds.

Francis Scott Key is the No.4 seed in the 2A west region, and they had a bye in the first round. In its last regular season game Francis Scott Key took down Smithsburg 59-47. Blake Straitman finished with a game high 22 points, while Brad Schug added 13 for the Eagles.

Middletown lost to 58-53 to FSK earlier in the season, and the Knights are hoping to the carry their momentum over to the next game.

If the Knights win this game they will most likely travel to Oakdale, who will take on Century tonight.
