Girls Basketball Heads To TJ

By Ben Spector

Round Table Reporter

The Knights Varsity Girls’ basketball team will head to Thomas Johnson to take on the Patriots at 7:00 P.M. tomorrow. The last time these two teams played was back in 2012 as the Knights (9-5) topped the Patriots (11-3) at home by a score of 50-45 on December 2nd. The Knights are coming off a 53-51 loss at the hands of the Linganore lancers while the Patriots, in their last game, beat Oakdale 39-38. These are two of the top teams in Frederick County as the Frederick News Post has Thomas Johnson ranked at 1st and the Knights in 5th. One of the keys for the Knights is to control the offensive and defensive rebounding and to try to not let the Patriots get into the paint. On the rebounding front the Patriots have Troniqua Black at power forward, who leads MVAL in rebounding averaging 12.3 rebounds a game. Last game the Knights won the rebounding battle with sophomore Carly Tolino grabbing 11 boards, senior Brittney George having 8 rebounds, and senior Caitlin McLister following close behind with 7 rebounds. With the Patriots having a definite height advantage over the Knights, most of the points scored for TJ were from inside the paint last game. The goal for the Knights is to have George and Tolino apply pressure to Black and force the Patriots to take outside shots.

Stats of the Game: 14.3, 12.3, and 3.2-The number of points, rebounds, and assists Troniqua Black is averaging this season.
